Meet Angelo Garcia
Angelo Garcia is the man who was dating former Extreme Weight Loss contestant, Rod Durham. It’s been reported today, Rod lost his life at 52.
Following Rod’s death, Angelo Garcia posted to his social media account:
Devastated to hear about the passing of a great person and soul just now. Rod Durham you were a light for so many. Going to miss you my dear friend and brother. You can’t imagine the hole you have left in our hearts. I will see you on the other side. I love you!
It is not exactly known for how long they had been together, but a number of photos of the pair can be found on Rod’s Instagram and Facebook page.
It’s clear the couple shared special moments together.
Rod Durham was staying at a motel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when his body was discovered by a housekeeper over the weekend. The cause of death is said to be diabetic shock.
Rod was a contestant on season 4 of ABC’s reality series Extreme Weight Loss in 2014. At the time he successfully lost 180 pounds.
Rod worked as a drama teacher at The Leon High School. He was also an actor and director in his Tallahassee community theater group. He codirected Agnes of God and starred in plays such as Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and The Piano Lesson. The Tallahassee Democrat reported.
Trainers Heidi and Chris Powell, both paid tribute to their former alum on social media. The trainers remembered Rod for his bubbly personality and positive energy.
Angelo Garcia is from Central Falls, Rhode Island, where he currently lives.
According to his LinkedIn, Angelo Garcia is the founder and head of school at Segue Institute for Learning. “Mr. Garcia’s mission and passion was to establish a school that provides a safe, nurturing environment which promotes diversity and individual growth. Under his leadership, Segue scholars are given the support to make a smooth and successful transition from the elementary school environment to a high school setting, eventually entering and succeeding in college.”
He is a Central Fall High School graduate, class of 1985. Attended Community College of Rhode Island where he studied an Associates Degree in Communication. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Springfield College. He also attended Cambridge College and holds a Master in Education. The 48-year-old has worked at Segue Software , Inc. and Channel One – Central Falls/city Of Central Falls.
Accoridng to his Segue Institute profile, he is the father of two sons, Malik and Darryl.
