Natasha De Alencar is a Gold Star widow following the death of husband, Staff Sgt. Mark R. De Alencar –who was killed in combat in Afghanistan this year.

Natasha’s hero husband was the son of an Army veteran, he served in the military for 10 years. He was a ranger and a Green Beret. Mark became the first American killed in combat in Afghanistan this year, according to Pentagon records.

Accorsing to the Military Times, Mark De Alencar enlisted in 2009 and graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2016.

His awards include the Purple Heart, five Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Special Forces tab, the Ranger tab, the Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

Reports say the soldier died back in early April –just days after his 37th birthday. Mark sustained injuries in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province “when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations.” Mark was of Brazilian descent.

Natasha brought two children and Mark brought one into their marriage in 2008. The couple have five children between them: Deshaun Osbourne, 20, Octavia Osbourne, 18, Rodrigo De Alencar 16, Tatiyana De Alencar, 13, and Marcos De Alencar, 5.

Her eldest son received a scholarship and plays football for Missouri Valley College.

Natasha De Alencar received the devastating news of her husband’s death on April 10th, two days later she received a call from President Trump –which was filmed by one of her daughters. The mom of five has shared the video of the call with media.

Natasha recently appeared on CNN’s “New Day,” and was asked to comment on the controversy surrounding Trump following the deaths of four US soldiers in Niger this month.

Despite Trump’s alleged insensitive comments to the widow of one of the soldiers killed in Niger –she said the President had researched her husband and also said he understood her loss.
