Karen Kehela
Karen Kehela is the lovely wife of Walt Disney Co. executive, Ben Sherwood –who is said to step down following the Disney/ABC TV Group merger.
Karen’s hubby served as co-chairman of Disney Media Networks, and the President of Disney-ABC Television Group. Sherwood has headed Disney/ABC TV Group since early 2015, when he took the reins from longtime Disney executive Anne Sweeney.
His background includes serving as a former president of ABC News and an executive producer of “Good Morning America.”
The Los Angeles native born Benjamin Berkley Sherwood on February 12, 1964; is a Rhodes Scholar, who came up the ranks at ABC News and NBC News in the late 1980s and ’90s.
He was named exec producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America” in 2004. He left the show in 2006 but returned as president of ABC News in 2010. On his watch, “GMA” rose in the ratings to top its a.m. arch rival “Today” in 2012 for the first time in 16 years –what boosted Sherwood’s rise to the top of Disney/ABC TV Group.
Sherwood’s diverse career has included penning novels, 2000’s “The Man Who Ate the 747” 2004’s “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud,” which was adapted as a feature by Universal Pictures in 2010. Sherwood wrote the 2009 nonfiction book “The Survivors Club: The Secrets and Science That Could Save Your Life.”
But Ben isn’t the only star in the family, his wife, Karen is a film producer.
Karen is the daughter of Etta and Edmund F. Kehela; also a Los Angeles native, Karen Lisa Kehela was born on March 13, 1965.
She attended University of California and currently serves as Co-Chair of Imagine Films, the movie production unit of Imagine Entertainment in Beverly Hills.
Her credits as a producer and executive producer include The Good Lie, Tower Heist, Frost/Nixon, Inside Man, The Cat In The Hat, Blue Crush, A Beautiful Mind, Nutty Professor: II, Bowfinger, Life, Mercury Rising, Fear, among others.
Karen became the official Mrs. Sherwood in 2003. Following their nuptials, the two have welcomed two sons together, Charles and William Sherwood.
