LaVar Ball

LaVar Ball is perhaps the proudest, most confident college basketball father in the world. Ever since his son, Lonzo Ball began shining in the UCLA basketball team, LaVar has been grabbing some headlines for some of his commentary.

LaVar is a former football and basketball player himself. The California native was born October 23, 1968. While attending Canoga Park High School in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, he was a prominent quarterback on the football team and played basketball as a forward.

According to ESPN, he first signed with the Jets — May 1, 1994. He played one year of football at Long Beach City College. Prior to that, he bounced around as a basketball player, going from Washington State to West LA College to Cal State-Los Angeles.

At the time Ball, was listed as 6-foot-5, 263 pounds. He was described in his bio as a criminal justice major “who one day hopes to become a U.S. Marshall.”

He was released Aug. 22, but was re-signed the following March and assigned to the London Monarchs of the World League.

He was also part of the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers.

LaVar Ball went onto marry, Tina C Slatinsky nowadays best known as Tina Ball. The two met while attending California State University. Tina is also a former standout basketball player.

The couple, now married for over two decades, have welcomed three sons: Lonzo, Lamelo and Liangelo.

As we all know, Lonzo has become a star at UCLA but LaVar who has been training the three boys since they were little kids has made sure Lameo and Liangelo verbally commit to UCLA in the future.

Aside from ‘looking after’ his three boys, he is also a personal trainer and owner of sports apparel, Big Baller Brand –the name is, of course, inspired in LaVar’s three boys, according to its website.

Lonzo’s dad is well known for saying some outrageous things, like the time he affirmed he could beat Michael Jordan in one-on-one.

But he’s also keen to talk some babble regarding his son. Some of his wild claims include comments about his son being better than Stephen Curry.

Is clear the guy is proud of Lonzo Ball but is he’s fatherly love blindsiding him? I LaVar Ball just the loud-mouthed father of UCLA phenom Lonzo Ball or should we all praise the man for gaining publicity?
