38-year-old writer, blogger, and philanthropist in New York City, Melissa Berkelhammer has been busted for shoplifting from Bergdorf Goodman, reports say.
Melissa who is a known NYC socialite was charged with grand larceny after she was nabbed inside the swanky Fifth Ave with a $2,700 Dior purse, a couple of Milly dresses worth over $1,000 and an $880 Dribs day bag totaling over $4K in goods!
On Twitter she says about herself: “Contributor, Avenue Magazine, Avenue Insider, Huffington Post. Movie buff, pop culture addict/critic and big time 80s nostalgist.”
Berkelhammer –who currently works as a contributor for Avenue Magazine –was released today after spending the night in jail.
Melissa who was confronted by police at the exit, made a major scene as she was taken away. Police labeled her as emotionally disturbed.
Melissa graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law School, according to her HuffPost profile, she took a liking to the arts at an early age when she began her career as a professional actress. At the age of 9, she appeared on Broadway in a lead role in Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs.”
She has involved herself in acting, fashion, philanthropic, and writing projects but most recently she has covered fashion and media events for patrickmcmullan.com.
This is not the first time the blonde makes headlines for her behavior, in 2011 she allegedly threw a tantrum during a meltdown at the posh Southampton Inn.
In 2010, her mental state was questioned once again, according to Scallywag, she allegedly posted on Facebook she was going to commit suicide.
