The Tulsa County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially confirmed Dr. Perry Inhofe was the pilot who lost his life in an Owasso plane crash Sunday afternoon.

Inhofe, 52, was the surgeon son of U.S. Senator James M. Inhofe. He is survived by his wife, Nancy 54, and sons two children.

Nancy who is also a doctor, was married to Perry for several years and had two sons together. It has been reported her husband’s plane crashed near 98th Street North and Memorial Drive on Sunday. Witnesses say they saw the twin-engine plane circling and then crash into the woods. Those witnesses also say they saw one of the plane’s engines were out.

Her husband was an orthopedic surgeon for Central States Orthopedics, which released a statement Tuesday afternoon.

“We are heartbroken for the Inhofe family. He is one of our shareholders, and the staff is numb by the tragic news,” said Central States Orthopedics CEO David Long. “Family was first with Dr. Inhofe and he considered those of us here at the office as an extension of his family.”

Nancy’s husband’s many passions along with being a doctor was flying; Dr. Inhofe was an experienced, commercially rated and multi-engine pilot with around 3000 hours logged with the FAA and was also a certified flight instructor and a former engineer!

Her husband had certainly an amazing career and was loved by everyone, some of the statements from friends and peers, include

“He was very courteous, respectful, caring about our employees and their well being,”

“Dr. Inhofe was known as a very caring and compassionate physician,”

“He was always putting the patient’s needs first. He was the kind of doctor that would make you feel that you had his full attention and that your health was the most important thing to him.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy and the rest of the Inhofe family, during this sudden loss.
