Sherrie Swafford

Sherrie Swafford is known as the long time girlfriend of rock singer, Steve Perry, best known as the front man of Journey.

Sherrie’s partner rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the band Journey, which he joined in 1977. He sang lead on major hits such as “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Open Arms” and “Lights.” Perry released his first solo album, “Street Talk,” in 1984.

Perry departed from Journey in 1986 but rejoined the group in 1996. He soon left again due to injuring his hip in 1997.

Lingering health issues eventually led to a split with the band, and Perry later dealt with a cancer scare. A lengthy period away from music making followed, even if interest in the enigmatic Perry never waned. Songs from an aborted follow up to ‘Street Talk,’ tentatively titled ‘Against the Wall,’ ended up on a late-’90s solo compilation.

Perry’s rare solo efforts have spawned a series of memorable hits — including the No. 3 ‘Oh Sherrie’; the Top 20 ‘Foolish Heart’ and ‘Don’t Fight It,’ with Kenny Loggins; and the Top 30 ‘You Better Wait.’

Gorgeous Sherrie Swafford and Perry had a long-term relationship. He even wrote a number of songs including “Oh Sherrie,” but the couple never made it to the altar. Unfortunately the pressures of touring ended the relationship.

Talking about the relationship Perry revealed in a 2011 interview:

“Sherrie and I were crazy in love, I can tell you that. And it was a very tough time because the band was peaking. And if any woman out there thinks that it would be real exciting to be the girlfriend of somebody in a band like that and that it would be all peaches and cream, the truth is that it’s hard to navigate a relationship when you’re in the midst of such a ride.”

Question is, whatever happened to Sherrie Swafford?

The blonde is an ultra private person and leads a quiet life. In 2013 according to Hollywood reporter, Sherrie Swafford never married and never had children. She became an esthetician and yoga teacher.

The two have stated they were madly in love with each other, wouldn’t it be great if the two got back together now that Perry is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
