Stacey Abrams
Stacey Abrams is running for governor in Georgia, the 44-year-old is the Democratic Party nominee.
Stacey Yvonne Abrams was born December 9, 1973; in Madison, Wisconsin but grew up in Atlanta after her parents moved there. Stacey has a five siblings including federal judge sister, Leslie Abrams.
Stacey would be the first black woman to be elected governor of a state in American history if she were to win against Republican Brian Kemp; however, a Georgia federal judge ruled in favor of Abrams campaign, ordering election officials to review thousands of provisional ballots that have not been counted in the contested election for governor.
Abrams attended DeKalb County Schools, and she graduated from Avondale High School. She received degrees from Spelman College, the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, and Yale Law School.
Following college, Stacey has best described as a businesswoman and author. She is the co-founder of NOW Account – a financial services firm that helps small businesses grow. She is also an award-winning author of eight romantic suspense novels. At age 29, she became the Deputy City Attorney for Atlanta and became a member of the Georgia House of Representatives in 2007 until 2017; also serving as Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2011 until 2017.
However, the former state legislator is apparently a single lady. At 44, Abrams is reportedly not married and she doesn’t have any children either. Whether she wins or losses, Abrams appears not to have a significant other to share her battles with and she is perfectly ok with it. She told WGB-TV Atlanta, “I don’t think my skin color, my marital status, or my background should not be a deciding factor” –in her chances of becoming a governor.
There’s also the possibility that she might be in a romantic relationship but so far she has kept her private life out of the public eye.
