Andrew Frounfelker
Andrew Frounfelker, known as the councilman of Jackson City is currently on trial for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
The 41-year-old turned violent on his girlfriend and his charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years if he’s convicted.
The unknown lady says Frounfelker ragged her up a set of stairs and pulled her by the hair, adding he also punched her in the face a number of times. He then proceeded to put his hands around her neck as he was on top of her, chocking her.
The victim appeared in court in order to testify against him. She recounted the facts during an emotional preliminary hearing to which the judge said he found sufficient evidence to charge him with assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
Frounfelker’s girlfriend who struggled to breathe but remained conscious during the vicious attack, went onto revealed she found herself unable to see on one side. After she arrived to the hospital thanks to a friend –she found out she had five significant fractures around her nose and eye –and was deemed a highest priority patient. As a result the unnamed woman has two metal plates in her face.
The attack took place on May 22 –one day before her birthday –at the couple’s home, they shared an apartment on W. Michigan Avenue. Weeks later, her injuries were still visible reports say.
During her testimony, she said this was not the first time she was beat up by Frounfelker. Apparently she had just stopped wearing shades to shield past bruising, when the latest attack occurred. According to the girlfriend who will remain anonymous, the fight unfolded after the pair had dinner at Bella Notte Ristorante. During dinner, there was talk of officially declaring May 23, her day. She thought it was a joke.
After they arrived to their penthouse, she said he yelled at her. “You have no idea what you did. You disrespected me. I tried to do something nice for you.”
The victim’s brother, Ray Putnam said of Frounfelker. “He’s a sociopath that plays on the dominance of victims. He’s a danger to ladies of Jackson, as well as his workplace.”
According to the City of Jackson website Frounfelker has been a Fifth Ward City Council Member for the City of Jackson since being elected into office in November 2005. He had previously served as Vice Mayor from 2007-2009 and 2011-2013. He is expected to resign.
