Eager to see Ben McKenzie back on your TV screen? Luckily we don’t have to wait much. The 36-year-old actor who plays James Gordon in television series Gotham will premieres tonight!
The job of keeping the crime-infested metropolis (relatively) safe falls on the square shoulders of young Detective James Gordon a.k.a Ben Mackenzie. Earlier this month as he continued shooting episodes for the new Fox series, he accidently injured himself.
Lucky for McKenzie and the entire cast and crew, the injury was far from serious. Thanks to a quick visit to the doctor, McKenzie was expected to make a full recovery.
“Doc Sherman at New York-Presbyterian, you are a career saver,” he instagrammed. “Thanks for stitching me up nice. Back to work Monday. #gotham”
Based on the previews, Batman and comic book fans will be quite impressed with the mystery, suspense and thrills promised throughout the season.
We sure hope he is recovered and has his TV set for tonight. Do you think someone nursed him back to health? Is he currently dating some special lady?
He has dated various unidentified women, keeping very low-profile relationships; so we are not sure but we believe he is currently single.
McKenzie’s made the jump for the big-screen after playing alter egos Ryan Atwood in the television series The O.C. and Ben Sherman in Southland.
He appeared in the films Junebug and 88 Minutes which earned him a Sarasota Film Festival nomination. His first starring role in a feature film was in the 2008 indie release Johnny Got His Gun which garnered excellent reviews for his solo performance. In 2009, he appeared on the short movie, The Eight Percent. The movie won the Delta Air Lines Fly-in Movie Contest and entered as an official selection on the Tribeca Film Festival’s Short film category.
Most recently he paired up with gorgeous Jessica alba for “How To Make Love Like an Englishman.”
McKenzie recently participated in a conference call about the series, he said about his character:
“The first season is Jim figuring out which cops in the department he can trust and which ones he can’t and there are some surprising twists and turns in these relationships. Some people that you would think are his enemies are actually kindred spirits and he needs to assemble a team, going forward, that he can actually use to bring justice.”
