Mary Joan Hansen is the wife of disgraced journalist and former TV host, Chris Hansen.
Mary’s husband is a veteran journalist perhaps best known for working as a correspondent for NBC News’ Dateline. However, in a turn of events, the “To Catch a Predator” star has been accused of bilking a local business of nearly $13,000 for T-shirts, stickers and mugs.
A local business accused Hansen of failing to pay $12,998.05 for merchandise. The merch was offered by Hansen on a Kickstarter fundraising which he used for the revival of “Hansen vs. Predator.”
To make things worse for the 59-year-old, his wife of decades, Mary Joan Hansen has filed for divorce, following the criminal charges filed against her husband.
Hansen graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. According to his bio, he joined NBC in 1993 –since then he’s been part of “The Hansen Files” and a varied reports that have earned him numerous awards including eight Emmys for investigative reporting, outstanding coverage of a news story and outstanding coverage of breaking news.
According to US Magazine, 57-year-old Mary Joan Hansen filed for divorce last summer citing in docs that their “marriage has broken down irretrievably.” She also requested alimony and “a fair division of property and debts.”
Sources believe their marriage had been over for a long time. The divorce comes years after Chris was caught having an affair with NBC anchor Kristyn Caddell.
Mary Jo Hansen and Chris tied the knot in 1989; she is the mother of the couple’s two children, sons Chase and Connor Hansen. Son, Chase who lives in Connecticut, studied at Curry College.
According to her social media, the lovely blonde hails from Birmingham, Michigan. In addition, Mary Joan Hansen attended Western Michigan University.
