Christopher Ripley
Christopher Ripley is a British businessman best known in the broadcasting industry as the CEO of Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Christopher who also goes by Chris –was promoted to president and CEO back in 2016, he had previously served as Chief Financial Officer –post he held from April 2014 to January 2017.
According to his LinkedIn, Christopher Stewart Ripley attended the University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Business Administration.
He began his career as an analyst at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. He later became a principal in Prime Ventures prior to arriving to UBS where he served as managing director. During his time at UBS Investment Bank’s Global Media Group, he managed, advised and structured various financings and merger and acquisition transactions in the broadcast and entertainment sectors. It was after UBS he arrived to Sinclair.
According to his profile on Bloomberg, he also served as a Director of hibu (UK) Limited and is on the Board of Directors at hibu Plc.
Since being appointed Sinclair’s CEO, 42-year-old Chris Ripley has been actively making headlines aimed at “moving the broadcasting industry into the current century” as he told Variety.
Most recently, the Hunt Valley, Md.-based TV-station giant, has announced it will launch a regional sports network in February 2020 that will become the exclusive television home of MLB’s Chicago Cubs.
The Marquee Sports Network, as it will be called, will air the full regular season schedule, expanded pregame and postgame coverage, classic broadcasts and other local sports programming.
Sinclair Broadcasting Group is the No. 1 owner of local TV stations, which already owns the Tennis Channel and the Stadium digital network.
