Denis Moynihan
Denis Moynihan is the husband of Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman –who just dodged riot charges for her reporting on the oil pipeline protests.
The controversial prosecution comes after Denis’s award-winning broadcast journalist wife, filmed security guards working for the Dakota access pipeline using dogs and pepper spray on protesters.
Authorities then, issued a warrant for Goodman’s arrest and alleged that she participated in a “riot”, a serious offense that could result in months in jail.
“I wasn’t trespassing, I wasn’t engaging in a riot, I was doing my job as a journalist by covering a violent attack on Native American protesters,” Ms Goodman said.
But is good news for Denis and his wife, who said today she feels ‘vindicated’, after a judge ruled that the state lacked probable cause for the riot charge.
