Ellen Kaminsky
Ellen Kaminsky is the wife of NY State Assembly member, Todd Kaminsky. Her hubby who represents the 20th District on the South Shore of Long Island, is running to represent New York’s 9th Senate District.
Ellen’s husband was born and raised in Lido Beach, New York. Todd is the son of Lauren Kaminsky and Martin L. Kaminsky of Lido Beach, N.Y. His mother, who is retired, taught first grade at Lido Elementary School in Lido Beach. His father, a certified public accountant, is a partner in Brinster & Bergman, an accounting firm in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
Todd Kamisnky graduated from Long Beach High School and attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated summa cum laude. He received his law degree from New York University’s School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.
For his efforts as a a community advocate, he was awarded the Community Service Award from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and the Long Beach Martin Luther King Center’s Sandy Relief Service Award.
As an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Todd specialized in prosecuting public corruption, serving as the acting deputy chief of the Public Integrity Section. In that role, he lea or participated in the successful prosecutions of a number of elected officials, including Rep. Michael Grimm.
Prior to his service as an Assistant United States Attorney, Todd worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Queens County District Attorney’s office. His prosecutions focused on domestic violence, robberies, shootings and other violent crimes.
Kaminsky was elected to the New York State Assembly in November 2014. He was named one of City & State’s 40 Under 40 Rising Stars, as well as named alongside colleagues as one of the New York Observer’s Albany’s Top 40 Power Players. Ready to find out more about his wife Ellen?
Ellen Kaminsky was born Ellen Betsy Tobin. She is the daughter of Marjorie Levine Tobin and Robert S. Tobin of Baldwin, N.Y. Her father, a certified public accountant, is an appellate conferee for the Internal Revenue Service in Hempstead, N.Y. He reviews tax disputes. Until 2001, he was the executive director of the tax department at The New York Times Company.
According to her LinkedIn, Ellen is an attorney working at Westerman Ball Ederer Miller Zucker & Sharfstein, LLP. Prior to her current job, Ellen Kamisnky, was an associate at the Manhattan law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, from which she also received a law degree.
Ellen and Todd were married in 2010, at the Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, N.Y. Rabbi Moshe Schwartz performed the ceremony, with Cantor Bette Cohen taking part.
According to their NY Times wedding announcement, Ellen and Todd met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Manhattan in 2007, and realized that their mothers, who had grown up together in Long Beach, N.Y., had discussed setting them up three years earlier.
Ellen Kaminsky 37, and her husband are the parents of an adorable son named, Rafe. The family currently resides in Long Beach.
