Kathleen Trotter McMaster
Kathleen Trotter McMaster is the lovely wife of Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster –who was named by President Trump, the new National Security Adviser.
Kathleen’s husband was born Herbert Raymond McMaster on July 24, 1962. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1984. He holds a PhD in military history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
According to his bio, McMaster’s military education and training includes the Airborne and Ranger Schools, Armor Officer Basic and Career Courses, the Cavalry Leaders Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and a U.S. Army War College fellowship at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace. McMaster has also served as a senior consulting fellow at the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London.
Lieutenant General H. R. McMaster assumed duties as the Director, Army Capabilities Integration Center and Deputy Commanding General, Futures, US Army Training and Doctrine Command on 15 July 2014. Prior to his arrival at Fort Eustis he most recently served as Commanding General, Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning from June 2012 to July 2014. Previously he served as Commander, Combined Joint InterAgency Task Force Shafafiyat (Transparency) in Kabul, Afghanistan.
LTG McMaster’s previous command assignments include Eagle Troop, Second Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bamberg, Germany and in Southwest Asia during the 1991 Persian Gulf War; 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry in Schweinfurt Germany from 1999 to 2002; and 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado and in Iraq from June 2004 to June 2006.
Staff assignments include Director of Concept Development and Learning at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. He also served as an assistant professor of history at the United States Military Academy from 1994 to 1996.
He has been happily married to Kathleen Trotter for decades.
Kathleen Trotter McMaster and her husband, are the proud parents of three daughters: Katharine, Colleen and Caragh.
During an interview, her husband revealed the two met while he was playing rugby in 1983 for the Army team during his time at West Point.
Kathleen Trotter McMaster who is also known by ‘Katie’ Trotter –dated her then boyfriend for two years before becoming the official Mrs. McMaster. The couple has been married for over three decades, since 1985 to be exact.
Soon after their nuptials they settled in Fort Hood, Texas where Kathleen Trotter McMaster, taught at a high school in Copperas Cove, Texas. She attended the University of San Diego.
The family currently resides in Fort Benning, Georgia –where Kathleen Trotter McMaster helped mentor new military spouses.
Kathleen Trotter McMaster is also the responsible for setting up the Battle Buddy Resource Center.
The couple’s daughter Katharine works as a defense analyst in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Villanova University. Their gorgeous daughter Colleen McMaster, earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Columbus State University in 2014. Colleen is currently engaged to Lee Robinson.
According to Caragh McMaster’s LinkedIn, she is a Teach for America Corps Member and also worked in Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2015 with a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy and Religious Studies.
