Hadassah Lieberman
Hadassah Lieberman is the longtime wife of former senator Joseph I. Lieberman, also known as Joe Liberman.
Hadassah Lieberman’s husband recently grabbed headlines after he took a shot at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who at 29 became the youngest woman to be sworn into Congress.
Born February 24, 1942; the Stamford, Connecticut native, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics and his Juris Doctorate degree from Yale University.
Joe, a lobbyist and attorney is best known for his time as a Senator from Connecticut. Before being elected to the Senate in 1988, Senator Lieberman served as an Attorney General of the State of Connecticut from 1983 1988 and as a State Senator for 10 years before that.
Senator Lieberman served 24 years in the U.S. Senate, retiring in January 2013. He serves as Senior Counsel at Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman LLP.
He was previously married to first wife, Betty Haas from 1965 until their divorce in 1981. The two became parents to two children, a son Matt and a daughter, Rebecca.
In 1982 he met second and current wife, Hadassah and the two wedded in 1983.Together they share one daughter named Hana. Like Joe, Hadassah was previously married; she and first husband Gordon Tucker welcomed a son, Ethan Tucker.
Hadassah Lieberman was born Hadassah Freilich on March 28, 1948; the Czechoslovakia native is the daughter of Holocaust survivor parents. After her parents settled in Massachusetts, she attended Boston University –where she obtained a BA in Government and Dramatics. She also studied a Master in International Relations from Northeastern University.
Hadassah is known for dedicating much of her life’s work to health issues, assisting nonprofit organizations. She served as a Global Ambassador with Komen for the Cure’s Global Initiative for Breast Cancer. She also completed ten years as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council and chaired the annual Ambassadors Ball, sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
She also directed HFL & Associates, an independent consulting firm dedicated to expanding domestic and international awareness of non-profit organizations.
