Jason Kessler

Jason Kessler is a self-described political reporter and activist from Charlottesville, Va. He is also the man who organized the recent rally in Charlottesville, that left one person dead and many other injured.

Kessler, who attempted to hold a press conference a day after the deadly event on Saturday –had to be escorted out by state troopers after a man pushed him and a woman tackled him.

The alt-right leader only spoke for a few minutes saying law enforcement, the local government and counter-protesters were responsible for the bloodshed. But his speech was cut short as an angry mob began booing him until eventually he had to run for his life.

The deadly event in Charlottesville sparked violent clashes between white supremacist groups and counter-protesters. The violence left one dead and many other badly injured. Authorities identified the victim as Heather Heyer, she and a number of others were plowed into by a car. The driver was later apprehended and charged.

This is far from his first white nationalist rally. Back in May he was the man behind the first torch-lit rally in Charlottesville in response to a proposal to remove a Robert E. Lee statue from a local park.

Also in 2016, he made efforts to remove the only black City Councilman and Vice-Mayor in Charlottesville, Wes Bellamy. At the time he exposed Bellamy’s highly offensive tweets and said I’m the only one that has the courage to stand up for white people even though I’m going to be called a racist”

Kessler is also active on social media with a following of over 12K on Twitter.
