Lisa Kappell
Lisa Kappell is the lovely wife of journalist and meteorologist, Jeremy Kappell –who was fired from his job as Chief Meteorologist for WHEC in Rochester, NY.
Lisa’s hubby is said to have been ‘let go’ following racial comments he made while on the air.
He joined WHEC in 2017 as chief meteorologist of the First Alert Weather Team. At the time he was hired to replace the then outgoing Kevin Williams at Channel 10.
Jeremy Kappell has been a broadcast meteorologist since 2000. He has nearly two decades of forecasting experience, having worked at stations in Texas, Kansas and Ohio.
The Ohio native holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Purdue University. He began his career as a meteorologist at WHAS11 in Louisville. He also worked for WeatherVision, a weather syndication company, in Jackson, Mississippi and for KRBC9 in Abilene, Texas.
He then served as the Chief Meteorologist at KSNT, the NBC affiliate, in Topeka, KS; and later moved to WDRB in Louisville, KY where he served as an on-air meteorologist, weather blogger and social media specialist.
Kappell has received a number of awards including, Best Weather Anchor in 2016 by the Kentucky Associated Press and also earned an Emmy in 2015 for his work on a five-part documentary covering the April 3, 1974 tornado outbreak titled ‘The Super Outbreak’.
According to his social media he is a Member of Northside Christian Church. Kappell who denies using a racial slur, is happily married to Lisa Kappell –who has defended him on social media.
The couple shares two children, a daughter and a son. The two celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in 2018.
Lisa Probus Kappell is originally from Floyds Knobs, Indiana. She went to Floyd Central Junior – Senior High School and subsequently studied at University of Louisville.
Lisa who is currently a stay at home mom, is a former Teacher Assistant at Greenville Elementary School. She also previously worked at Northside Christian Church as a child care worker.
