Lilibet Ziller Hagel also known as Mrs. Lilibet Hagel is the U.S. defense secretary’s wife. Last year in February, her hubby Chuck Hagel was sworn in as the 24th Secretary of Defense on February 27, 2013 becoming the first enlisted combat veteran to lead the Department of Defense, it’s been announced he is stepping down.
Meridian native, Lilibet worked on the Capitol Hill in the 1980’s as press secretary, she holds a BA and MA, Literature from American University, Washington, DC.
She is a board member of the International Student House, Washington, DC. The mom of two is a former free-lance writer and editor for trade associations and government agencies and former English professor at Northern Virginia Community College.
Mrs. Hagel traveled extensively with her husband, throughout Europe and the Middle East. She also served as an election monitor with the International Republican Institute in Kiev, Ukraine, for the parliamentary elections in March 2006, according to her profile.
Lilibet and her hubby have been married for 29-years. She is his second wife since 1985 and the couple have two children together. Lilibet first gave birth to a daughter, Allyn and second child is a son, Ziller Hagel. Her hubby was previously married to Patricia Lloyd, they divorced after three-years together.
