Matthew Wing
Matthew Wing is the proud husband of Melissa DeRosa, previously Gov. Cuomo’s chief of staff –has been named New York’s first ever woman secretary to the governor.
Recent reports indicate the 34-year-old is set to take on the administration’s top and most powerful staff position, replacing William Mulrow.
Melissa is the daughter of Melody A. DeRosa of Chesapeake, Va., and Giorgio DeRosa of Slingerlands, N.Y. Her father serves as senior partner in Bolton-St. Johns, a Manhattan-based public affairs firm. Her mother, who worked in Fort Collins, Colo., retired as the West Coast regional director and education technology consultant for Texas Instruments.
Melissa DeRosa graduated from Cornell, where she also received a master’s degree in public administration.
Prior to becoming Gov. Cuomo’s chief of staff, she served as the deputy chief of staff to the state attorney general, Eric T. Schneiderman. You can take a peek at her LinkedIn page here.
Matthew Wing and Melissa are newlyweds, the two tied the knot on Aug. 27 at the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, N.Y. Jed S. Rakoff, a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, officiated, according to the their NY Times spread.
The two met in 2013, while they both work for Governor Cuomo. At the time, Mathew served as his press secretary.
Matthew Lawrence Wing, also 34, was born to Audrey Strauss and John R. Wing of Brooklyn Heights. His mother is a vice president and the chief legal officer for Alcoa, the aluminum company, in Manhattan. His father is a partner in the New York law firm Lankler Siffert & Wohl.
Matthew Wing graduated from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. He currently works for Uber in Manhattan, where he oversees public relations for the northeastern United States.
His resume includes previous jobs as deputy communications director for New York City from 2011 until 2013. Wing also served as Com. Director for then Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Matthew Wing arrived at Uber in 2015.
The couple bought a lovely Brooklyn Heights co-op for $2.2 million, the Observer reported.
