Michelle Caruso-Cabrera
Michelle Caruso-Cabrera is a former TV reporter turned Democratic Congressional District candidate, aiming to oust freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
According to reports, 53-year-old Michelle Caruso-Cabrera filed paperwork to challenge Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary for her Bronx-Queens congressional seat.
On social media, Caruso-Cabrera said she’s running to “fight for the people of Queens & the Bronx” She describes herself as “the daughter of Cuban immigrants and living the American Dream.”
According to her campaign website, she refers to herself as “MCC.”
Born February 9, 1967; Michelle is the daughter and granddaughter of working-class Italian and Cuban immigrants. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wellesley College.
Michelle Caruso-Cabrera began her career in 1990 while in college, as a stringer for The New York Times, reporting for the education section.
She was later a special projects producer for Univision where she gained experience covering Latin America.
She then spent four years at CNBC from WTSP-TV in St. Petersburg, Fla., covering crime and hurricanes.
Michelle Caruso-Cabrera was a reporter and anchor at CNBC for more than 20 years, covering news in Cuba, Iran, Ukraine, Iraq, Italy, Russia and Latin America. She left CNBC in 2018. Most recently she served as chief international correspondent and co-anchor of “Power Lunch.”
She was also named one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in the country by Hispanic Business Magazine.
The black haired reporter is also an author, in 2010 she published “You Know I’m Right: More Prosperity, Less Government”
Is not yet clear, if Caruso-Cabrera is currently a married lady. She married Paulo Lima in 1999 but ended in divorce 17-years later in 2016. Apparently the couple did not have children during their marriage.
She has obviously kept her personal life under wraps, however she may have to share some info during her campaign.
