Ian Paregol
Ian Paregol is the devastated father of Olivia Paregol –the freshman student who died from adenovirus-associated illness.
Ian told outlets he believes the University of Maryland –where his 18-year-old daughter was a freshman –should’ve done more to save his daughter.
According to the NY Daily News, Olivia had been suffering from Crohn’s disease and a weakened immune system when she contracted an adenovirus just a few weeks into the fall semester.
Olivia had developed a cough and complained of respiratory issues, her father, Ian Paregol, said. He believes mold on the campus was at least a contributing factor in Olivia’s failing health.
Paregol told CBS News, “It didn’t help the illness. I think that’s a really fair statement. We don’t know that there’s causation, yet, but it didn’t help things.”
Olivia who died on November 18th, is survived by her parents, Ian and Meg Paregol and by two siblings, Zoe and Evan.
According to his LinkedIn, Ian Paregol is the executive director of DC Coalition for Disability Service Providers. The professional has a diverse background in law, human services management and education administration.
He previously served as the executive director of community services for Autistic Adults and Children. He has a history of working in the non-profit organization management industry, providing mission-based advocacy while achieving a track record of optimizing operations.
Ian a father and husband, attended Peary High School. He studied political science at University of Delaware and holds a JD, Law from Dickinson Law. Following his graduation he was a Lead litigation attorney for private law practice, Paregol & O’Mealey.
According to a profile on First Place, Ian Paregol’s affiliations include, the Maryland Association of Community Services to Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism and the National Association of Residential Providers for Adults with Autism.
His wife, Meg Redford Paregol is a Member Service Representative at The Dancel Y in Ellicott City.
