Actress and former Broadway dancer Patricia Van Paten was married to late actor Richard “Dick” Van Patten for 61-years!
Reports today, say her husband –who was 86 –died at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif. due to complications from diabetes.
Patricia’s husband was perhaps best known for his starring role on the 1970s series “Eight Is Enough,” where he played patriarch ‘Tom Bradford.’
Patricia better known as “Pat” was born Patricia Poole. According to Wikipedia, she and Dick were married in 1954. She became the mother of the couple’s three sons: Vincent Van Patten, Nels Van Patten, and Jimmy Van Patten. All three grew-up to follow into their parents footsteps in show biz!
Pat is described as a professional dancer on Broadway and a June Taylor Dancer on the Jackie Gleason Show –where she ultimately met the love of her life.
According to IMDb, she participated in films such as The Bodyguard (1992), Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) and Quiet Kill (2004).
The first of her children is 60-year-old Nels –who can be seen in the 1983 film The Graduates of Malibu High. Second son is 58-year-old actor James –who appeared in the TV show The Chisholms. Her third son is 57-year-old Vincent –who was also a professional tennis player and is known most recently for his job as the commentator for the World Poker Tour.
It’s believed she and her husband lived in Sherman Oaks, California.
