Phyllis Clark
Phyllis Clark was once married to former 80’s wrestling icon, Lawrence Tureaud, best known as Mr. T.
Phyllis’ former man was born May 21, 1952. While growing the Chicago native played football, wrestled, and studied martial arts. He later joined the Army and served in the Marine Corps.
He earned a football scholarship to Prairie View A&M University and, after serving in the Army and was recruited by the Green Bay Packers until a knee injury sidelined him.
He worked as a bouncer and bodyguard for a decade and gained notoriety while taking part in NBC’s “America’s Toughest Bouncer” competition.
He went on to participate in the 1980’s television series The A-Team and later portrayed boxer Clubber Lang in the 1982 film Rocky III.
In the 1980s, Mr. T wrestled alongside Hulk Hogan in a couple of WrestleManias. In 2009, T turned down a chance to be inducted into the WWE’s Hall of Fame, because Pete Rose was inducted. He was inducted in 2014.
It’s safe to say Mr. T has beat down a few hundreds of people since his bouncer days, but he also beat down cancer. In 1995 he was diagnosed with rare T-cell lymphoma. He received five treatments of radiation spanning four weeks, the cancer dissolved.
For years, Mr. T was known for his trade mark hairstyle, his tough-guy image and gold jewelry –which he stopped wearing after Hurricane Katrina.
Phyllis Clark and Mr. T became husband and wife in 1971. The two became proud parents of three children.
Back in 1997, it was reported Phyllis Clark underwent a psychiatric evaluation at a Waukegan hospital after an incident in which she allegedly rammed two police cars while attempting to avoid a speeding ticket.
She is the mother of the couple’s two daughters and one son: Lesa, Erika, and T Junior.
Her daughter Erica Clark –is a regular on Chicago’s competitive stand-up comedy circuit.
In 2014, her hubby was accused of abandoning his illegitimate son, Alexander Taylor –who filed a $5.4 million lawsuit claiming that the actor had walked out on him because ‘he did not fit into Mr. T’s public image’
