The film screened at the party and was seen by none other than Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg, who attend the bat mitzvah. The director’s production company DreamWorks contacted Ehrenreich and he met with the head of casting, Leslee Feldman.
Alden said during an interview despite his parents hesitation to let him go into acting, he owes his passion for movies to his mother.
In 2009, he told Flavorwire, “My mother always cultivated my imagination from the time I was very little.”
However, it would be some time before he would be allowed to pursue acting.
“My mom wouldn’t let me do child acting,” he told New York in 2009. In the meantime, he started making home movies with his friends.
Since the whole bat mitzvah debut, Alden has gone to appear in the films Tetro and Beautiful Creatures. He’s also starred in the 2016 Coen Brothers film Hail, Caesar! He also got to work with Park Chan-Wook (“Stoker”), Woody Allen (“Blue Jasmine”) before landing Star Wars.
