Tanner Harris: Tenn. Banker Forced to Robbed Own Bank

Meet Tanner Harris, a SmartBank employee of Knoxville, TN who was forced to rob his own bank when he and his family where kidnapped by crooks!

Reports say 35-year-old Tanner along with his wife Abigail “Abbey” Harris and their 5-month-old son were kidnapped from their home last Tuesday morning, they were blindfolded by two armed men and driven in the family car to a bank branch.

Once Tanner got back with the cash while wife and son awaited at gun point outside, the crooks took the money, the woman and child; only to be left inside their car off a dirt road minutes later. Tanner’s wife had to drive a short distance and ask for help.

In 2012 SmartBank announced that Tanner Harris had joined the organization as First Vice President and Commercial Lending Officer.

Prior to SmartBank, Harris served as a Vice President/Business Services Officer III with BB&T where he managed a $70,000,000 portfolio and received the honor of Sterling Performer in the 4th quarter of 2006.

According to his LinkedIn, he graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

The SmartBank announcement says Harris “operates out of SmartBank’s Knoxville corporate office where he will be responsible for developing and managing a variety of commercial relationships.”

Tanner has also been involved with other organizations including United Way Loaned Executive Program, Knoxville Chamber Partnership, Introduction Knoxville and East Tennessee Community Design Center.

The FBI is currently investigating the robbery.
