Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, model, TV presenter and socialite from the U.K., was found dead at age 45 in her home in London.

Also known as T.P.T she was the goddaughter of Prince Charles –who is a close friend of her family. The Prince of Wales led tributes and said he was “deeply saddened” by her death.

Reports on her death say, the former ‘It Girl’ had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and received treatment for it. The Met Police confirmed a woman in her 40s was found dead at Palmer-Tomkinson’s flat in Bramham Gardens, South Kensington, at 13:40 GMT.

The stunning Palmer-Tomkinson gained notoriety  in the 1990s as a hard-partying “It girl.” The brunette began her career in the media as a columnist for the Sunday Times. She was also a reality TV star who was a regular on the London party scene in the 1990s and 2000s. In 2002 she appeared on the reality TV series I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! She also appeared on other reality shows, including a celebrity special of Blind Date and A Place in the Sun.

Her photo frequently appeared in the pages of society and celebrity magazines.

Tara is well remembered for her struggle with substance abuse. Her drug of choice was cocaine –a battle she discussed publicly on a number of occasions.

In 2016 after returning from a skiing trip, she was told by doctors she had a non-malignant growth in her pituitary gland. She also suffered from an auto immune disease that caused acute anemia, tiredness and joint pain.

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was born December 23, 1971. Her father was former British Olympic skier and landowner Charles Palmer-Tomkinson and his wife Patricia “Patti” Dawson. She is survived by her older sister, Santa Montefiore and brother, James Palmer-Tomkinson.

Santa, is an author married to historian and novelist Simon Sebag-Montefiore.

Tara certainly lived a privileged life. She attended Sherborne School for Girls in Dorset and grew up being a close friend of the royal family, even playing the piano with the National Symphony Orchestra; but her adult life was filled with scandals beginning with her cocaine addiction.

The cause of her death is still being determined.
