Terrie Linn Hall, the Michigan native whose advocacy after surviving ten cancer diagnoses helped 100,000 Americans to quit smoking has passed away. The Anti-tobacco advocate became active in 2006 after she had been subjected to grueling radiation treatments when she was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2001.
Then in 2007 she was a legislative ambassador at “Celebration on the Hill” in Washington DC having previously worked with the American Cancer Society as the team captain for the Relay for Life. She was perhaps best known for appearing in one of the PSAs for anti-smoking campaign.
She was born July 19, 1960. Her maiden name is Terrie Hall McNutt. She graduated from Forbush High in 1978.
It’s an amazing accomplishment after being a teen smoker, feeling adverse effects of tobacco at the age of 25, fighting for her life and ultimately fighting for the life of others, she became against smoking. Hall whose father also smoked, started smoking at the early age of 13. The mother of one, daughter Dana; said once she felt guilty her daughter also picked up the habit.
Her favorite quotes
Love like you’ve never been hurt and dance like no one is watching….
I’d rather live my life as if there is a God and find out there isn’t than to live my life as if there isn’t and find out there is!
Hall would come to smoke up to two packs a day, she smoked when she first woke up, in between every meal, and before she went to bed. Soon after Terrie had found out she had cancer. She got a call from her doctor saying she had to come in and get her voice box removed. Thinking that she would never speak again Terrie expressed her regret of ever starting smoking and so having a second chance in life she made her personal mission to tell her story to everyone, and hopefully teach them to NEVER get addicted.
Terrie divorced in her thirties and lived in North Carolina, later in Reedy Creek, Davidson County and Virginia. Her family owned a car repair business. Her daughter Dana Solano lives in Lexington, North Carolina. Dana quitted smoking last year. Terrie enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons.
She lost her battle to cancer yesterday and died while at Winston-Salem hospital.
