Meet Joe O’Toole
Joe O’Toole is the doctor husband of anchorwoman, Wendy Bell.
You probably know his wife from her job as the anchor of Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 every weeknight at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. Bell joined WTAE in 1998 and is the recipient of 21 regional Emmys.
In an era where we have the need to voice our every thought through social media, (no matter how stupid it might be) we also pay the price for such. It is the case for Joe’s wife.
The lovely 45-year-old Wendy Bell, has been fired after she wrote a racist comment on Facebook, a fragment of the post reads: ‘you needn’t be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers… they’re black’
Parent company Hearst Television said Bell’s comments were ‘inconsistent with the company’s ethics and journalistic standards.’
As a result, the awards winning anchor, has been let go of her position at the Pittsburgh TV station, WTAE. Wendy made the controversial comment referring to a suburban ambush that left five people – including a pregnant woman and her unborn child – dead on March 9.
Since then, Wendy issued an apology for the remarks. It is not the first time Bell, makes a racist remark. She apologized in 2010 after making a racially insensitive comment, according to FTVLive.com.
Her hubby, Dr. Joseph O’Toole, is a cardiologist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside in Pittsburgh. The couple met in Missouri but later moved to Pittsburgh, where Joe is originally form.
He and Wendy have been married since 1998 and are the proud parents of five sons.
Joe O’Toole graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1997. He works in Pittsburgh, PA and 2 other locations and specializes in Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. O’Toole is affiliated with UPMC Shadyside, UPMC St Margaret and Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
In 2012 Joe O’Toole, was featured in Pittsburgh Magazine, as one of the top ranked physicians in the region.
