Be BEST

First lady Melania Trump has announced her campaign titled, BE BEST –which aims to the importance of a healthy and balanced life for children.

There was a lot of speculation in the past on how Melania Trump would come about her role of First Lady. Many even doubt she would step out of her comfort zone to become a public figure and cheer for a specific cause.

It’s been over a year since her husband, Donald J. Trump has been running the country –and to say he’s faced criticism would be an understatement. Despite Trump perhaps being the least popular president in U.S. history, Melania has finally come forward with her own platform of initiatives, addressing the well-being of children, social media use and opioid abuse.

The former model, wife and mother of one, said during a speech in the Rose Garden

“I feel strongly that as adults we can and should be best at educating our children about the importance of a healthy and balanced life”

“When children learn positive online behaviors early on, social media can be used in productive ways and can affect positive change.”

“With those values as a solid foundation, children will be able to better deal with the evils of the opioid crisis and avoid negative social media interaction,”

As part of her policy agenda, Melania Trump said she will speak to leaders in the technology industry about children’s online habits and raise awareness “around the importance of positive behaviors.” She also plans to address the opioid crisis by bringing attention to “neonatal abstinence syndrome, and help educate parents on the importance of healthy pregnancies.”

48-year-old Trump also took time to highlight examples of positive outcomes such as 8th grader Kalani Goldberg whose online video revealing she faced bullying –inspired others to be supportive and kind. She also mentioned Christian Bucks, the creator of “Buddy Bench” to help connect kids during recess; by sitting on the bench.

After her speech, The President signed a “Be Best” proclamation and had nothing but kind words for his wife of 13-years, “Everywhere she’s gone, Americans have been touched by her sincerity, moved by her grace and lifted by her love,” “Melania, your care and compassion for our nation’s children inspires us all.”
